Musical Activists

Music to Life regularly seeks activist musicians as it builds the Activist Musician Accelerator (AMA) around the country.

While our calendar and geographic locations vary, we invite activist musicians of all genres to introduce themselves and their work to Music to Life by completing an online application.  Typically, qualified artists in our roster have the following strengths:

  • Skill as a performing artist (original songs of concern, or reconceived classics, are encouraged)
  • Demonstrated interest in an issue of concern
  • 1-3 years experience with community-based, music-driven social change efforts, initiatives or formal projects

Artists are selected by various Music to Life executive and advisory board members on a rolling basis, year-round.

Selected artists will be invited to join Music to Life's juried roster of activist artists (network of talented musicians who receive performance, educational and funding opportunities) and be eligible for paid participation in the AMA as it travels to their area (and/or via special invitations to artists working in particular social justice issue areas nation wide).   Given the many requests we receive, all submissions cannot be individually addressed; thank you for understanding.

Note: Given Music to Life’s commitment to racial justice, equity and inclusion, we believe that these issues must be central to the work we do. Hence, we strongly encourage applications from women, people of color, and those who identify with or are members of historically marginalized or underrepresented communities.

We look forward to meeting you, thank you for your good work and interest!
